Below we have a list of what’s on in Orkney. Orkney is busy with events and activities throughout the summer months, this list may be able to inspire your holiday plans.

Music and Arts

The Orkney music scene is very active, along with the festival events you can often see live music in various venues in Kirkwall, Stromness and on the Isles.

The Reel is a focal point for music in Kirkwall.

21 – 24  May 2020 Orkney Folk Festival Local music festival featuring a number of bands and performances.

19 – 25 June 2020 St. Magnus Festival. Music and Arts festival including performances from artists from all over the world.

The Pier Art Centre has exhibitions throughout the year featuring works from local and international artists as well as the permanent collection. Well worth a visit, in Stromness.

Westray Regatta, pipers, whisky, Scapa, Orkney Events

Pipers add some colour to Westray’s annual regatta.

Sport

Orkney is popular for many activities, some of which you may be able to plan for your self, for example bridwatching, walking, surfing and cycling. If you would like to hire a bicycle during your stay Cycle Orkney will be able to help.

7th July 2019 St. Magnus Marathon. A run from Kirkwall to Birsay organised by the Birsay Community Association.

13-19 May 2019 Orkney Nature Festival, organised by RSPB Scotland.

8th August 2020 Orkney County Show, Orkney’s main agricultural show held in Kirkwall.
